Creating useful products while promoting sustainability in the production process.
FrieslandCampina (Thailand) Public Company Limited, a producer and distributor of various quality dairy products under the brands Foremost, Falcon, and Debic, is participating in the celebration of #WorldFoodDay 2021 by reinforcing its corporate mission to deliver nutritious food products with essential nutrients at affordable prices, while enhancing sustainability throughout the production process to benefit consumer health and reduce social and environmental impact.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has designated October 16th of each year as World Food Day. According to the latest data on the FAO website (www.fao.org/world-food-day), more than 3 billion people, or about 40% of the world's population, cannot afford nutritious and healthy food. Nearly 2 billion people are overweight or obese due to poor nutrition and inactive lifestyles. It is estimated that global healthcare costs could exceed US$1.3 trillion by 2030.
The food industry currently employs over 1 billion people, more than any other industry, thus having a significant impact. Small-scale farmers produce 33% of the world's food, but face challenges in their livelihoods due to poverty, lack of access to funding, knowledge, and appropriate technology. FrieslandCampina, one of the largest and longest-established dairy cooperatives with over 150 years of history, and a producer and distributor of several quality dairy products, recognizes these problems and is committed to conducting its business with a purpose to give back to society. It focuses on improving product quality from the production process through its Dairy Development project, which involves sharing knowledge from the Netherlands and providing training to Thai farmers to produce high-quality, nutritious dairy products at affordable prices for all consumer groups.
As an international organization, FrieslandCampina pursues these goals in every country worldwide, especially this year, which many countries have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic for the second consecutive year. The organization continues to develop high-quality dairy products based on sustainability principles, reducing environmental impact and improving the lives of dairy farmers. FrieslandCampina reaches more than 250,000 dairy farmers globally in eight key countries across Asia, Africa, and Eastern Europe, providing opportunities for over 75,000 local farmers to access markets, ensuring everyone has access to good nutrition through the quality products of its various brands.
